Frequently Asked Questions

Laser vein removal targets visible superficial veins that sit close to the surface of the skin. It can treat facial redness and broken capillaries, spider veins on the legs, small blue or purple veins around the ankles or knees, and scattered vessels that create flushing on the cheeks or nose.  It is safe for all skin types and can be used on both the face and body to create a clearer, more even complexion.

The Coolglide Nd:Yag laser delivers controlled energy into the vein without damaging the surrounding skin. That energy heats the blood in the vessel, causing it to collapse and seal.  Once closed, the vein is gradually reabsorbed by the body.  Blood naturally reroutes to healthier veins deeper in the skin, and the treated vessel fades over time.  Because the laser precisely targets hemoglobin, it treats the vein without harming the skin around it.

Your visit begins with a consultation with Dr. Amy Krachman. She will examine your veins to determine whether they are good candidates for treatment, and create a plan based on location, depth and color of the vessels.

During the procedure, you will feel quick warm snaps as the laser pulses over each vessel. Cooling measures with the integrated colling system are used throughout to keep you comfortable. Treatments move quickly and most patients find them very tolerable. You can return to normal activities right after, though we recommend no heat such as exercise, sauna, hot tubs, for 48 hours post treatment.

Dr. Krachman recommends a series of three sessions, 6 weeks apart for optimal results.

Following a laser vein therapy session, mild side effects such as redness, swelling, or a slightly bruised appearance may develop. The veins will look “angry”.  Red and raised like hives, for a day to two, then resemble a bruise for a few weeks following treatments.

These effects are typically short-lived and subside within a few days. Following Dr. Krachman’s post-treatment care instructions such as avoiding sun exposure will help with a smooth recovery.

Improvements in the skin and reduction of veins should be noticeable within a few weeks, continuing over the next several months as the treated veins break down. Significant reduction in the appearance of veins takes a series of sessions. The results can last for  years, especially with proper care and maintenance sessions.

Yes. Depending on the vein type and location, additional or alternative treatments may be recommended.

While lasers are the primary treatment for facial and leg veins, the Subnovii Plasma Pen can be an option for very small, stubborn vessels that sit too close to the surface for laser to target effectively. Plasma energy creates precise microinjuries that cauterize these tiny capillaries, causing them to seal and gradually fade. This approach is especially helpful for isolated red vessels around the nose or small clusters that haven’t responded fully to laser therapy.

IPL Fotofacial can help with widespread facial redness or diffuse flushing. For patients with underlying skin conditions like rosacea, medical grade skincare and light based therapies may be combined with vein treatment for the best long term outcome.

Your plan is always customized so the approach matches your skin, your veins, and your goals.
