Not all wrinkle relaxers are created equal. For those looking for an alternative to Botox, Xeomin and Dysport offer their own unique advantages, especially when tailored to your skin and lifestyle. These treatments are designed to reduce dynamic lines while allowing your natural expressions to shine through. At Dermalogic, lead by Dr. Amy Krachman, we’ll help you choose the option that’s just right for you.
Dermalogic’s Expertise and Results - At Dermalogic Laser Center our physician-led team guided by Dr. Amy Krachman, has years of experience with Xeomin and Dysport, allowing them to tailor each treatment to your specific goals and facial anatomy. Our approach blends technical precision with an artistic eye. We personalize dosing and placement to your goals, facial anatomy, and natural muscle movement so results look refined rather than frozen. Our approach is thoughtful and conservative, with precise technique, clear aftercare, and follow up to fine tune your outcome over time.
As a board-certified doctor of osteopathic medicine (D.O.), Dr. Amy Krachman is trained and experienced in developing holistic strategies that address overall signs of aging. The goal is to create natural-looking, harmonious results. She also focuses on managing and even preventing pain, using her “extremely light touch” to give patients the best experience possible.
Xeomin® and Dysport® treatment sessions involve thin needles to maximize patient comfort, advanced injection techniques, and ice (if requested) for the injection site. Expect the session to take about 15 to 30 minutes, which means you can be in and out in the time it takes to enjoy a typical lunch break.
Dr. Krachman’s philosophy is that “less is best” to start. After a conservative initial approach, you can assess the results of your Xeomin® or Dysport® treatment and report how you feel about them. Depending on whether you love what you see or want something a bit different, we can shape your treatment plan so that it better aligns with your ultimate cosmetic goals.
Patients who experience side effects from their Xeomin® or Dysport® treatment tend to report mild temporary swelling, redness, itching, and bruising. There may also be a light burning feeling that fades on its own. We recommend ice and oral Arnica right after your session to help these effects resolve more quickly.
Within a couple of days, you can begin to see the effects of your Xeomin® or Dysport® injections as muscle activity slows. The results should continue to improve over the following weeks, with the smoother, more refreshed look lasting about four months. The frequency of maintenance treatments varies from person to person, but is typically around three to four months.
In addition to wrinkle-relaxing neuromodulators, Dermalogic also offers dermal fillers, which add volume to areas where collagen, hyaluronic acid, and fat have diminished. Options include the hyaluronic acid based Juvéderm® and Restylane®, as well as Sculptra®, which prompts renewed collagen production in the skin itself.
For many patients, a single treatment strategy may address a specific sign of aging, but the most benefit comes from combining treatments for holistic rejuvenation. Talk to Dr. Amy Krachman and the Dermalogic team about your options!
Both Xeomin® and Dysport® are treatments known as “neuromodulators,” a category of wrinkle-relaxing injectables that also includes Botox®. The active ingredient in these treatments inhibits muscle movement by keeping the chemical signal that prompts contractions from binding to specific junctions. As long as this chemical, called acetylcholine, can’t “fuel” contractions, the muscles will stay at rest. Over time, the body builds new junctions to accept acetylcholine, and contractions resume as normal.
Some patients report that the results from Dysport® and Xeomin® appear to develop a bit faster than Botox®. As for their especially unique qualities, Dysport® tends to “spread” a little more, which can make it an ideal choice for someone who wants to treat a larger area. Xeomin® is made without proteins found in other neuromodulators, earning it the nickname “the naked injectable” and making it a good choice for anyone who has developed an “intolerance” to other options, resulting in less-noticeable effects.
